After launching a small MVP in early 2021, we realised the overall adaption of the feature was quite low. After analysing the user funnel, we send out a number of surveys and concluded there were 3 main user problems.
The discoverability of the feature was low, it was too hidden. Secondly, many people were just not confident in their investing capabilities – which resulted in churn. And lastly, there were some small usability improvements needed.
What do I invest in? That's the most common friction point for newer investors. We designed pre-build plans, or thematic plans, to help guide users into finding topics which resonate with them. And the opportunity to start building their portfolio.
For investors that are familiar with the markets, we have given them the freedom to build an investment plan of their own. They can pick and mix ETFs and stocks and allocate the positions according to their own liking.
The plan's have a build-in monthly cost-average system. Meaning that every month, it will execute the plan and over time build your positions. To further decrease friction and really set-and-forget, we build direct debit. Users can give BUX a mandate on debiting their bank account and simply enjoy the fruit of their investments.
Slowly but surely we saw the impact of the iterations change the metrics. We keep iterating on a regular basis.
